Companies House maintains the commercial register in the United Kingdom. Unlike Austria, Germany or Switzerland, this is not a court but an administrative authority under the authority of the Ministry of Economic Affairs with headquarters in Cardiff and branches in London and Edinburgh. The Companies House is responsible for the registration and deletion of companies under British law. It also checks and stores information of the companies subject to reporting requirements and makes it available to the public for inspection.
