Questions and answers

Questions and answers

Most questions we are asked come down to four: what it costs, how long it takes, who has to live where, and what has to be filed each year.

The answers below are grouped by subject. Where a question depends on your own circumstances, the answer says so instead of pretending otherwise.

Choosing between the forms is answered elsewhere. Whether a Ltd, a PLC or a guarantee company fits, and whether Britain or Ireland is the better country, is set out with the forms themselves on company types — including six questions that come up in almost every enquiry.

Terms rather than questions? The glossary explains what a confirmation statement is, why a registered office is not an office, and where a director differs from a continental managing director.

If your question is not here, it is worth asking — most of what stands on this page started as an e-mail.

Ask a question

You can also write by e-mail or ask for a call back. Nothing here is legal or tax advice; where a question needs a solicitor or an accountant, we say so.
